PRESENTING THE HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTS CENTRE IN AVEIRO – SÃO JACINTO

The High Performance Sports Center in Aveiro-São Jacinto for the practice of Surf, Bodyboard and Longboard, is located in the parish of São Jacinto that belongs to the municipality of Aveiro and it’s part of the Portuguese Network of High Performance Sports Centres/HIGHSPORTUGAL. São Jacinto occupies a peninsular area and is surrounded to the East by the Ria de Aveiro and to the West by the Atlantic Ocean.

Access to the city of Aveiro is granted on a daily basis by water, through a boat and ferry services for both passengers and vehicles. Other option is a road that connects with the parish of Torreira, municipality of Murtosa, and the city of Ovar more to the North.

The High Performance Sports Centre in Aveiro-São Jacinto is able to held national and international events, is adapted to initial and advanced training, and it also allows the organization of internships for younger practitioners.

This equipment aims to be an element of sports promotion, as well as tourism promotion of the territory, boosting the local economy

This was the later High Performance Sports Centers to be prepared for sports activities and training, which makes it one of the most modern in all the Portuguese network. Surrounded by sand, with a beautiful wooden structure, the High Performance Sports Centre in Aveiro-São Jacinto offers accommodation for 30 people.

The accommodations provided by the High Performance Sports Centre consist on six rooms for 4 athletes and a room for 6 athletes, having also a dressing room, a bathroom, a toilet, a laundry, storage and a technical area.

Given the founding purpose of the High Performance Sports Centre in Aveiro-São Jacinto, it is proposed to:

Encourage the cooperation between partners, to develop training methods and actions incorporated into the annual planning of the Portuguese Surf Federation;
Organize regional, national and international events, with the help of the different partners;
Develop a program of regular activities aimed at the younger population;
Promote and develop the surf practice.

FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENTS

ADMINISTRATIVE & TECHNICAL AREA

The High Performance Sports Centre in Aveiro-São Jacinto has indoor and outdoor equipment, acquired as part of an application submitted by the Local Management Committee to the Sports Development Program, promoted by the Portuguese Sports Foundation, in 2016.

The technical and administrative areas include the reception, offices, meeting rooms, first aid and massage room, as well as sanitary facilities. There, you can also find a dining room, kitchen and toilet facilities.

SUPPORT AREA

The accommodation area consists of six rooms for 4 athletes and one room for 6 athletes, having a dressing room, a bathroom, a toilet, a laundry, storage and a technical area.

The HPSC Aveiro-São Jacinto has also a kitchen and cafeteria area that consists in 1 dining area, 1 kitchen, 1 dressing room, Sanitary facilities for men, women and people with disabilities, Storage room.

SPECIFICATIONS

The three areas are “L” shaped and include a hangar to shelter the boards, as well as outdoor showers.

Fitness and gym services will be provided by the sports centre complex grounds

SPORTS DISCIPLINES AT THE HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTS CENTRE IN AVEIRO – SÃO JACINTO

The High Performance Sports Centre in Aveiro-São Jacinto offers to the athletes the ideal conditions for high-performance training of surf, bodyboard and longboard. It also has the potential to integrate the High Performance training of jetski and water bikes, canoeing, rowing, sailing and kite surfing.
