The High Performance Sports Centre in Caldas da Rainha is dedicated to Badminton practice and is located in the city of Caldas da Rainha, whose connections to the rest of the country are guaranteed by a high road that connects this city to Lisbon and Porto.

This equipment is part of the Portuguese network of High Performance Sports Centres/HIGHSPORTUGAL and it was inaugurated in 2010. This HPSC haa all the conditions needed for international competitions and the developing of training methodologies concerning a high sports performance on the practice of badminton.

The excellent conditions of the High Performance Sports Centre in Caldas da Rainha can also, occasionally, allow other uses, either in different sports or events other than sports.

Caldas da Rainha is a mid-level city, where there are no long distances between infrastructures, allowing athletes to attend the badminton HPSC and still have time to do other things and to enjoy their free time in leisure activities or to rest at the peaceful and extremely beautiful surroundings.

The Portuguese network of High Performance Sports Centres/ HIGHSPORTUGAL represents the development of sports equipment in the country, aiming to guarantee the best training conditions for national and foreign athletes who choose any Portuguese HPSCP for training.

SUPPORT AREA

The High Performance Sports Centre in Caldas da Rainha is fully dedicated to the Badminton practice and it is composed by specific training areas, with the best material and equipment needed for a great performance.

This HPSC is an infrastructure equipped with the best conditions to compete, to be physically prepared and to evaluate, control and optimize the training of professional athletes. It also provides medical support and all the logistics needed for international meetings and international expertise exchanges.

SPECIFICATIONS

From the available equipment, we highlight the two indoor halls, one with 44.35×26 meters (12m high) with nine badminton courts and the other with 35×9 meters for support and preparation, with two courts; male and female locker rooms with Turkish bath; referee locker rooms; 2 auditoriums with capacity for 200 and for 25 people, both of them equipped with audiovisual equipment; a gym, equipped with 2 rooms for group lessons, male and female locker rooms, both with sauna and Turkish bath.

Over the last years since its opening, this High Performance Sports Centre has developed other ways to promote the best training to all its athletes. New equipment, continuing updates on the equipment available and also specialized equipment for fastest and complete physical recovery are some of the elements you could find there.

The city of Caldas da Rainha is in the western region of Portugal, close to some of the best beaches in the country. The fast and easy access to these same beaches, make this city an excellent option for a stay during the summer months.

Throughout history, this city was known for its connection to thermal waters with medicinal properties and the production of ceramic art. Caldas da Rainha is the home to the oldest thermal hospital in the world and presents a rich historical heritage, like the Saint Sebastian Hermitage, dating from the sixteenth century, the Church of Nossa Senhora do Pópulo (16th century), the old Igreja Matriz and D.
