HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTS CENTRE IN RIO MAIOR.

Specialized in Swimming, the High Performance Sports Centre in Rio Maior is located in the sports complex of Rio Maior/DESMOR. The Rio Maior Municipal Pool complex is a modern, functional and energy efficient facility. This equipment is part of the Portuguese Network of High Performance Sports Centres/HIGHSPORTUGAL.

Equipped with two indoor pools with 25 and 50 meters, and a jumping tank and a learning tank, it is prepared to receive all swimming varieties, assuming its position as the centerpiece of the High Performance Sports Centre in Rio Maior for Swimming.

The Olympic pool features HD video recording equipment, with underwater imaging for training analysis and a gym equipped with VASA ergometers for specific swimming training.

The High Performance Sports Centre in Rio Maior has with the most modern equipment, meeting the needs of coaches and high performance athletes of all modalities and, in particular, of swimming.

Among the equipment available, we highlight a system for collecting underwater images in high definition, gym ergometers for a “dry workout”, strength measuring devices to assess athlete’s performance (dynamic and static force).

The High Performance Sports Centre in Rio Maior has two independent accommodation wings with 32 single, double, triple or quadruple rooms, adjustable to the needs of the teams.

All rooms are equipped with telephone, wi-fi, television, minibar, air conditioning and bathroom.

It also offers a self-service canteen where the menus are prepared focusing on the specifics of the athletes’ diet and can be previously selected by the teams.

The High Performance Sports Centre in Rio Maior offers services to athletes in sports medicine, massage and physiotherapy. It has a specialised physician in sports medicine, a physiotherapist and several massage therapists. These professionals work in a specific area equipped with the latest therapy and recovery technology: laser, ultrasound, magnetic therapy, shock waves and short waves.

Although the High Performance Sports Centre in Rio Maior is specialised in swimming, the entire DESMOR complex is prepared for the High Performance in different modalities, such as football, athletics and triathlon.

All sport facilities are grouped around the school complex, providing athletes with nearby equipment making it possible for athletes to travel minimal distances.
